Kirin’s race was the last. Unfortunately 8-12 yr olds got clumped together for just a 2km race. This, I believe was due to the logistics nightmare. He was back before we knew it. I took all of 1hr 32 mins to complete my 25kms. This included stops to take pics & to blog at the 14km mark.

What mattered was the participation. Amazing atmosphere. Am sure to do this every year.

Thanks to Sunita & Kavya for patiently waiting for us.

Here are pics of Kirin’s start & us together.

Crossed the finish line. Thanks to the pleasant Bangalore weather, the ride was comfortable and I crossed the line with people young & old, big & small, in old & new bikes.

This one is for you Dinesh. May your soul rest in peace.

As Kirin & I get ready for tomorrow’s (Oct 11, 09) BSA Herucules Cyclothon to be held in the NICE corridor of Bengaluru, we cannot wait for the moment to arrive. The organizers expect 5000 participants, making this the largest cycling event in India in it’s very first year. Am sure this event will have a lasting impact in the Indian cycling scene with Bangalore already leading the way with all the techie cycling enthusiasts.

There are 2 reasons I am really excited about this cyclothon:
1- GiveIndia has tied up with the event allowing riders to create pledge pages & raise money for an NGO of the rider’s choice. I have chosen Sevalaya, a Chennai based NGO working to provide opportunities for children to succeed in life. My pledge page is at www.giveindia.org/give/pledgepage/VijayiGivePage
2- This is my first post from my iPhone plunging me into the world of mobile blogging. The motivation: I will be blogging live from the Cyclothon tomorrow with all the content being generated from just the phone!

So here I am, fascinated at the marraige of a sporting event to a few causes (environment, health, giving) all tied together by technology. If this is not Convergence, then what is? Stay tuned for LIVE coverage of my participation in the Bangalore Cyclothon tomorrow!

Any contributions to my cause through my Pledge page would me much appreciated.

Below are some screenshots of the WordPress applicattion for iPhone & Kirin during a recent practice round.
